Vitamins are bioregulators that play essential and specific roles for the correct development of key physiological processes.
Vitamins are traditionally classified as follows:
- fat-soluble: A, D, E, K;
- water-soluble: B1, B2, B6, B12, Folic acid, Pantothenic acid, C, H, PP and choline.
The bodies of livestock species are unable to synthesise vitamins, with the exception of C, and therefore their dietary intake or synthesis by the microflora of the digestive system is necessary.
